Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? Fantastic.

An unforgettable experience

By Steve, November 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? From the moment we were dropped off in the car at the bottom of the village and then had a mule carry out luggage up to the Kasbah, we felt immersed in the Berber culture.Lunches on the hikes with our guide were an unforgettable experience.

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? Staying at the Kasbah is not cheap but it does represent value for money, and everything you could want is included. A great introduction to Berber culture and hiking the high Atlas while still living in comfort and safety. We were there the middle of November and were lucky with the weather as it was still reasonably mild. We did experience the first snowfall on the high peaks which added a magical dimension to the views.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? The Kasbah seems to have a genuine ethos of looking after the environment and the local community. You can sense the staff feel part of a team and there is a pride in working for the Kasbah.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? A wonderful experience.

Absolutely loved our time trekking

By Marion, November 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? Learning about and experiencing the Berber way of life including having tea and freshly baked bread as a guest in a village house. Accommodation and all meals were outstanding and beyond expectations.

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? Good supportive hiking footwear is essential along with walking poles to cope with the testing terrain.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? Definitely benefited the local people through employment plus our 5% contribution to local infrastructure, medical and education.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? Absolutely loved our time trekking with our fantastic guide, Mohamed and the friendly helpful staff at the Kasbah and the Trekking Lodge.

We had a good time

By Sara, November 2019

We had a good time. Our guide Abdoul was excellent and Lahcen at the Kasbah excellent.

Great!

By Andrew, November 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? Trekking in the mountains to Azzaden valley and back to Imlil.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? It benefited the local people.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? Great.

Excellent!

By James, October 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? Walking in the remote Azzaden valley through the local villages.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? Benefited local people, yes. Our guide was local and told us on more than one occasion that tourism in the area was a positive thing. The Kasbah is keen to reduce plastic waste by having drinking water available from a spring but plastic bottles are still required for the remote lodge.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? Excellent. The Berbers we met and who ran the Kasbah were all very friendly and welcoming. Our guide Abdul Aztat was constantly going out of his way to make sure we were ok and made our trip extra special.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip

By Claire, June 2019

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip, thank you. Our stay at the Kasbah lived up to all our expectations, as did the lodge, where we had an outstandingly delicious tagine. Abdul, our guide, was charming and looked after us very well, making sure to go at a pace that suited us.

The food provided for all our lunches was really excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our mid trek treats.

We were very impressed by the accommodation at Dar Imlil - our rooms were fabulous and the whole place had a really nice feel to it.

All in all, we had a great time and will definitely be recommending your company to friends and family.

It was a unique experience

By Fiona, May 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? The days trekking in the mountains but particularly the day spent hiking around the remote trekking lodge in the Azzaden Valley. It was a unique experience walking through the spectacular countryside and going through the Berber villages.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? A unique experience enjoyed by all of us. Well organised from start to finish and especially enhanced by our wonderful guide Mohamed. He was professional throughout but was also amusing, entertaining and a wealth of local knowledge. It was great to get even a small insight into the lives of the Berber people and we would not have been able to do it without him.

It met/surpassed our expectations

By Peter, March 2019

Your stay at Kasbah Du Toubkal in Imlil – It met/surpassed our expectations: comfortable/rustic/relaxed but not posh/arty/pretentious. The staff were extremely attentive and solicitous. We had the strong impression that they had a stake in the lodge and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time.

Your trekking guide – Hussein was great. 10/10. As was the cook who magicked up a picnic lunch every day in the middle of nowhere.

Your stay in the Remote Trekking Lodge – Better than expected – or, rather, feared, because we’d been given to believe it was remote and spartan. Far from it: the lodge was fine.

Any aspect you particularly recommend to other travellers – the flexibility of the walking options; the informality of the lodge; the excellent service; the beauty of the setting.

We had an excellent holiday in Morocco

By Peter, November 2018

We had an excellent holiday in Morocco and are trying to get used to grey skies once again.

Our stay at the Kasbah worked very well. The driver arrived on time to pick us up from Marrakesh and the drive down was interesting.

Our guide Abdu was excellent - patient, sense of humour, good command of English ( and very enthusiastic to improve) , answered my endless questions and overall a delight. Following so closely on the heels of the horrendous incident in Imlil he was very passionate about his area and went out of his way to make us feel welcome.

The Trekking Lodge was the highlight - a great place to chill out after our hike , great food and hospitality provided by Mohamid, wonderful to meet other like minded hiking/mountain lovers and magnificent star studded clear skies.

The staff at both paces greatly added to our enjoyment. I would appreciate if you could pass on my comments about Abdu to the Kasbah.

Best wishes and thank you for a job well done.

We had such a lovely time trekking in the Atlas

By Claire, October 2018

That first day of trekking and coming round the mountain to discover amongst some rocks futons and cushions and mint tea. What a lovely surprise but what was even more of a surprise was the splendid lunch of colourful salads followed by the most delicious tagine and if that wasn’t enough we were then given an assortment of fruit as well as coffee. We ate like lords and needed the futons to sleep off probably the best lunch ever especially as we were expecting just a sandwich! The next two lunches on the hill, I gather cooked by different people, were equally as good and I have to say will be a lasting memory (I’m sounding very greedy!)

Our guide, Omar, is very knowledgeable, funny and knew what pace to set. We couldn't have had a nicer person joining us. We were also joined by Hussein, our muleteer, a lovely wizened man with a twinkle in his eye and a beautiful smile.

We loved the lodge with the beautiful views over the valley, comfortable bed and delicious food. Mohammed looked after us a treat. We had a very relaxing day wandering through the valley and taking tea with a local family who were really hospitable giving us freshly baked bread, olives and walnuts. This was very much our choice, I got the impression that it’s not usually on the itinerary but something we would highly recommend.

We will certainly be recommending this amazing holiday.

Really enjoyed it!

By Neil, June 2018

  • • Your stay at Kasbah Du Toubkal in Imlil - Really enjoyed it! Wonderful spot and nice to read about their mission to help the community. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Accommodations comfortable and meals were great.
  • • Your stay in the Remote Trekking Lodge - Very pleasant! We were there alone one night, and one night with two people so very quiet. Enjoyed seeing a Berber village up close. Food was good, staff friendly.

We had a great time …

By Andrew, April 2018

We had a great time at the Kasbah and were particularly impressed with the staff - a perfect blend of friendliness, diligence and professionalism.

Very good

The views from the trekking were my favourite part and settling down after a hard days trek to a nice comforting meal and relax.

The holiday was - Very good, Had a lovely time in the calm of the countryside. Moroccan hosts were very good hosts and extremely helpful.

Truly an amazing place and experience.

By Tom, January 2018

We both agreed that our time at the Kasbah and in the mountains trekking was by far our favourite part of the trip. Truly an amazing place and experience.

Really excellent

By Paul, October 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? The trek with our guide Abdelislaam over to the Azzaden valley and two nights at the Kasbahs remote lodge. A beautiful walk - some steep ascents but not too tough. Great, Great food cooked by Omar at the lodge. And the chance to experience life in the High Atlas villages. It was apple harvest, they were bringing the boxes of apples down from the orchards to ship to town. They offered us free samples as they ran past. I'll always remember the taste of those apples...

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? If the Kasbah is full, Dar Imlil is a fine alternative. It doesn't quite have the position or history, but the rooms are just fabulous.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? Yes, we were shown the Education for All work to help the girls of the high Atlas get secondary education. It's clear tourism is having some negative impacts too...lots of fairly ugly development in Imlil and rubbish is a problem. But Berber culture here is strong the tourist money is encouraging younger people to stay in the mountains.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? Really excellent. Communications throughout was first class. We came away feeling good about our trip on every level.

We enjoyed everything

By Hilary, June 2019

Yes we enjoyed everything. Thank you. The trip was very well organised and the staff helping us on our trek and at the Riad were delightful. The trip was very well organised and the staff helping us on our trek were very considerate and friendly. We appreciated the responsible travel attitude to create an awareness amongst local people and travellers to reduce plastic waste in the villages and the contributions towards Berber girl education.

Go for it

By Mickey, June 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? The mountains, the weather, the people that looked after us so well.

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? If you enjoy spectacular scenery, lovely accommodating people and superb local cuisine. Go for it.

Excellent, very well organised

By Deidre, April 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? Reaching the summit of Toubkal was a very rewarding experience, it had been a tough climb, having never used crampons before, but our guide Omar was excellent he always encouraged us and allowed me to dictate the pace - I was the slowest member of the party! Haggling in the souks was also fun, we did not find the sellers aggressive or pushy as they are sometimes described.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? Yes it is clear that local providers are intrinsic to your experience- we have always tried to book holidays where the locals benefit the most from our visit. The people are gracious they obviously like to get tips and always showed their appreciation.

How would you rate your holiday overall? Excellent, very well organised, we were never anxious , we enjoyed the people, the scenery and food were great. It is clear that the locals are committed to preserving their environment and want to give their clients an excellent experience.

Transfers were excellent, very reliable and comfortable. It is clear that there is good teamwork between everyone - well done to Discover Ltd we will definitely book with you again for another adventure.

Everything went perfectly

By Pau, April 2019

Our stay at the Kasbah and the remote lodge were both fabulous as was our guide Abdul. We also took a cooking class in Marrakech which was great.

I’m not sure if there is any way to improve on the trip. Everything went perfectly.

The trip was a complete and hugely enjoyable success

By Donald, April 2019

The trip was a complete and hugely enjoyable success. The Kasbah was great, super accommodation, good food and friendly helpful staff. We also met a few other hikers both at the Kasbah and the Lodge which added to our enjoyment. Our guide, Omar could not have been bettered. He was everything one would hope for friendly, hospitable and full of interesting local information and knowledge. He clearly set out with the intent of making our visit as enjoyable and safe as possible and in this he succeeded. He was great company. The Lodge was an excellent base and Mohammed looked after us extremely well; he is a skilled and versatile chef. We had four excellent days walking from there.

The Riad was lovely though a little disconcerting on our arrival. The walk down the little alleys had us somewhat confused till the small door opened onto the courtyard and the Riad. Our rooms were very comfortable and we enjoyed having the roof terrace. Staff could not have been kinder, more helpful or more considerate. It was unfortunate that work was going on to fix the reflecting pool. All the transfers went off exactly as planned and all the drivers were helpful and considerate.

We loved Marrakech though the Souks took a bit of getting used to. Lots to see and some great places to eat. Many highlights but the best were the Saadian Tombs, the Secret Garden (what a find), Jardin Majorelle and its Berber Museum. the YSL Museum and the Maison de la Photographie, all of which we would recommend to other visitors.

We do not think you could have done anything to improve on this trip. As a first visit to a new and fascinating country and culture it was just the right length and we got an opportunity to appreciate the variety of Morocco.

We absolutely approve of your 5% levy and we are going to make a donation to Education for all.

Fantastic holiday

By Nova, November 2018

Fantastic holiday, I rave about it to my friends.

We could not have been more pleased

By Ron, October 2018

We could not have been more pleased with everything Discover, Ltd. did for us. You probably know we asked to change our plans when we both came down with severe colds. Since we are avid trekkers, it was disappointing to ask for the changes but your staff did an amazing job to accommodate our needs. We give 5 stars and many thanks to everyone involved.

Excellent overall

By Darren, June 2018

  • • Kasbah Du Toubkal in Imlil - Excellent overall. All the staff were really friendly & helpful. Food was excellent and so was the room.
  • • Trekking guide - Abdul was superb. Good information while walking and a great guide who made our walking experience really enjoyable.
  • • Remote Trekking Lodge - Lovely location, rooms, staff and food,
  • • Toubkal Ascent - Well organised, special thanks to Mohammed (our chef) for the great food he prepared while we were out trekking.
  • • Marrakech - Lovely Riad, excellent rooms and hosts. Great location.
  • • Recommend - All transfers very good and on-time. Very comfortable. A must is to spend a night at the remote trekking lodge.
  • • If we could have done something extra or different to have made your holiday better, what would that have been? To provide a toilet tent while remote trekking.
  • • Any other comments - great overall service and experience which made a really special and memorable holiday for us, I hope this is of help for you, we had a great holiday.

Blown away!

By Alex, May 2018

We loved the Riad in Marrakesh but were blown away by the walking in the High Atlas.…. one of the most enjoyable walking holidays we have ever done.

Excellent

By Liz, March 2018

The most memorable or exciting part of my holiday was Trekking through the Atlas Mountains. You need to be fairly fit for the treks to the mountain lodge it is a long hard slog in the heat!

I would rate my holiday overall - Excellent. Great staff and lovely accommodation exactly as described on the information.

Top notch

By Paul, March 2018

The views are stunning. The accommodation (both in the mountains and in Marrakech) is great. The food is terrific - the best tagine that we had was cooked 'on the hoof' by Ibrahim during our trek back to the Kasbah. The people that we met in the mountains were, without exception, friendly. Everything was superbly organised and presented.

Go deluxe, it's worth it, you get a bath and after a day's hiking you need to ease those aching legs. The hiking is tough, but OK. If you're after a gentle stroll, this may not be for you. There are some strenuous ascents and descents over periods of a couple of hours each way.

Top notch. We had a great guide - Mohammed - organised through the Kasbah - spoke excellent English, had a great sense of humour and chatted about everything - a real education for us. We preferred the mountains to the claustrophobic atmosphere in Marrakech, but enjoyed both.

All in all, perfect

By Linus, April 2018

Here is our "verdict". Thanks for this time!

We stayed three nights in total at the Kasbah. The place is fantastic with a very special vibe to it. Everyone was friendly and laidback. It was a lovely stay.

Our guide, was really good. He assessed our fitness level on the first day and adjusted our program accordingly, adding some extra peaks and exciting descents to keep it challenging. As we shared an interest in flora and fauna, we talked a lot about that and he showed an impressive level of knowledge. He also shared a lot on Berber language and culture. All in all, perfect.

The Remote Trekking Lodge - Very nice. An even more tranquil place than the Kasbah.

Riad Les Yeux Bleus is a really nice place with attentive service from the staff.

It was a great holiday …

By Gwyneth, Pat & Janey, April 2018

It was a great holiday and what we saw of Morocco was beautiful. The guides, taxi drivers and hotel staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I love the Riad in Marrakech. I would have liked an extra half day in Marrakech, but as this would have been at the expense of time in the mountains it does not fit in the itinerary.

Our guide Abdul was happy to accommodate what we wanted into the two days. English excellent, Local knowledge excellent and happy to find answers to our questions. Enjoyed our walks with him very much and a very friendly manner.

Our stay in Marrakech - extremely comfortable. Wonderful roof top terrace and courtyard and staff keen to help. Khalid was a knowledgeable guide and willing to be flexible to a degree and sorted out our extra requests for us and the meal at the restaurant he recommended was excellent. We didn't feel hassled by the street sellers and think this might have been because we had a guide?

Highlights - the views, the walking, and the picnic lunch. The Riad in Marrakech. The Kasbah setting.

Overall a great holiday and would recommend Discover.

Were blown away by the walking in the High Atlas …

Trekking in Style package MEDLD [view package details]

We had a really great time in Morocco thanks.

By Sarah, October 2018

Firstly we arrived at the airport to a 2 hour queue for passport control! Not ideal for us or the kids and we were worried about if your transfer driver would wait for us so rang the transfer number who assured us all would be well and indeed, Rachid our driver was waiting when we eventually got out of the airport and was very helpful, asking us if we wanted water or food etc.

In fact Rachid did most of the transfers for us during the week, he is an exceptionally nice man, has very good English language and was excellent at pointing out all of the local sights and giving us information on all of the local traditions etc. He made sure we were comfortable and it was never a problem to stop for toilets, food or indeed to see anything ( such as the tree goats!) if we wanted to. He really is an asset for the Kasbah!

So our journey to the Kasbah du Toubkal was good, and we loved our stay there including the first walk up from Imlil! What a great place to go. Sadly it was a bit rainy so we weren’t able to enjoy the outside spaces so much but we loved using the Hamman and our apartment room was perfect for us as a family! The hospitality was very good and we really enjoyed the local food! Overall just a great, different experience.

The trekking was great too although we got more than we bargained for with sun, heavy rain and flooding and then snow!! However Abdel was a good guide and it all worked really well and luckily we able to borrow rain clothes from the Kasbah ( although they didn’t have much for children!) as we hadn’t imagined it being so cold or wet!

We loved the remote trekking lodge and Mohammed looked after us so well, what a welcome to come to mint tea and an open fire when we arrived soaking wet and cold! His cooking was delicious too!!

The transfer to Essaouira was good again with Rachid as he made it interesting stopping to show us local sights! We loved Essaouira;its such a great place to enjoy the beach, the kids loved the camel rides and my husband did a bit of surfing! The hotel/Riad was really nice here and the apartment room was perfect for our family. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and we ate in the restaurant downstairs one evening which was really delicious! Breakfasts here were great too.

Next we moved on to Marrakech. The Riad Les Yeux Bleu is lovely although not ideal for families as there are no interconnecting rooms. Our room was the one directly by reception and it was very noisy you could hear any conversation going on! However, it is a beautiful Riad and the staff were friendly and helpful. Its also a great location for exploring the streets of Marrakech as you are quickly into the markets and a short walk from most of the attractions.

Overall we had a great experience in Morocco and we were very happy with your service and arrangements so thank you!

A wonderful package

By Carol, September 2017

  • • Your stay in Marrakech - We really enjoyed Riad Yeux Blues. The roof terrace and plunge pool was really great, service by staff was excellent, breakfast was good, and room was really nice. We appreciated all the attention to details in the facility, such as complimentary water. The location was good (I actually preferred the location of the second Riad we stayed in after Imlil, which was right in the Medina, but Riad Yeux Blues was also good)
  • • Your transfers in and around Marrakech with regard to drivers and porters to and from your riad - The transfer from airport to riad was good; no problems at all. Transfer from Marrakech to Essaouira was excellent. Our driver Rashid spoke excellent English and was very friendly. He answered my many questions about Morocco and the countryside we were passing through. He stopped whenever we wanted photos, and helped us get to the hotel once we arrived. The vehicle was very clean, relatively new and well maintained.
  • • Your stay in Essaouira - Was too short! I think you may want to consider modifying this package and adding one more day to Essaouira, since by the time we got there it was already 2 p.m. We loved Essaouira and would have enjoyed one more full day … Also, location was great.
  • • Your transfers in and around Essaouira with regard to drivers and porters to and from your riad - All excellent. We had the same driver Rachid, and he was very attentive, making sure we were comfortable in the car and always checking if we needed anything.
  • • Your stay at Kasbah Du Toubkal in Imlil - Was great. We loved the Kasbah … location is fantastic, rooms were really comfortable and clean. Food was outstanding. We had excellent food both at the Kasbah and provided while trekking. The only change I might suggest is that you consider providing some seating, especially for dining, that is more western style.
  • • Your trekking guide - Was very good. Friendly, spoke excellent English, shared a lot of information with us.
  • • Your stay at the Remote Trekking Lodge - Was good. The food was excellent, and service by Mohammed was really nice. My husband was sick with GI illness while there, and Mohammed made a special trip into town to get the ingredients for a special tea for him.
  • • If we could have done something extra or different to have made your holiday better, what would that have been? - I think you did an excellent job of communicating with me, both regarding trip logistics and details about Imlil and the Kasbah. I appreciated having information on tipping, wine and beer, availability of cash, etc in Imlil. All transfers on our trip happened flawlessly … I think that is quite an accomplishment! I don’t think there’s anything you could have done better.
  • • Any other comments - We thank you for putting together a wonderful package and executing it so professionally! We are also really grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in the Kasbah, and to experience a bit of Moroccan culture.

Kasbah du Toubkal…amazing place!

By Linda, Mar 2017

Overall we would like to thank you and all connected with Discover for fantastic service and a wonderful holiday.

Kasbah du Toubkal in Imlil:
Excellent - amazing place, fantastic setting and views - feel privileged to have been there. Room and view from balcony great - appreciated that it was nice and warm (two heaters) given the outside temperature. Food good especially on our first and third evenings. Soups really nice. Guides good and we really enjoyed the walks.

Was glad to see that EFA being supported to help girls get an education. Overall really liked the Reasonable Plans book about the development of the place and all the good it is aiming to do in the Berber community. Was really helpful that you sent a link to the weather forecast website so we could be prepared with the right clothing.

Marrakech:
Another amazing place - beautiful lay out and décor. Staff all extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast - was all fine and all delicious. Nice base to explore Marrakech.

Any aspect you particularly recommend to other travellers:
The views and setting of the Kasbah.

Perfect

By Helen B on 7 Mar 2016

Rating for this holiday: Excellent

I booked a 3 night walking holiday with Discovery Ltd. I was travelling alone with an excellent, professional guide they provided. I walked south along the coast from Essaouria staying in a Riad and a gite. It was just superb. Everything was well organised and of the highest standard. I felt totally safe travelling alone and made to feel very welcome.

Morocco - High Atlas (Kasbah du Toubkal) and Essaouira

By les roses on 5 Oct 2015

Rating for this holiday: Excellent

Trekking in High Atlas from Kasbah du Toubkal with very knowledgeable guide and staying in luxory accommodation. Then staying in medina in Essaouira on the coast - a great location for a combination of beach and ‘culture’ - medina, port, souks etc.”

Surprising, interesting, delightful

By Sam, September 2019

Your stay at Kasbah Du Toubkal in Imlil? It was great. Surprising, interesting, delightful.

Your trekking guide? Abdul, indeed Yussuf and Ibrahim were all great companions. Abdul is upbeat, knowledgeable, friendly with excellent English. Could not ask for more.

Your stay at the Remote Trekking Lodge? We changed routes and stayed at 3 different guest houses, all fun and great locations.

Your transfers? Very smooth. We asked to divert to the centre of Marrakech for an hour and that was all accommodated.

Any aspect you particularly recommend to other travellers? Don’t forget the walking boots! Make sure you have some time to spend in the villages.

Greg and I had an epic time and experience.

By Juan, June 2019

Greg and I had an epic time and experience. The tour guide was outstanding and the Kasbah team as well. If we could change anything? nothing! Food, trek, stay, tour guide and staff were outstanding. We have recommended you to two friends of our who are looking to do the same trip. Thanks again for everything and the outstanding service (from the minute we contacted you to after the trip) E P I C !!!!!

We enjoyed our vacation very much

By Geert, April 2019

We enjoyed our vacation very much.

Your stay at Kasbah Du Toubkal in Imlil? Very good – the food was very good on the whole trip (enjoyed the healthy lunches).

Your trekking guide? Very helpful and very friendly and very good English speaking.

Your Toubkal Ascent (subject to Weather)? Since we made it, it was great.

Any other comments? We enjoyed the trekking and climb (usually we do trekking in less comfortable circumstances).

Excellent

By Mike, April 2019

We were based at the Kasbah du Toubkal and had 4 days walking from the base. he transfers all worked well and the base were flexible in changing the walking plans because of unseasonal weather. The guide was excellent and we felt very safe with him - including a crampon ascent of Toubkal starting at 5.30 am in total darkness (except for head torches).

We had a fabulous time

By Lola, April 2019

We had a fabulous time.

On both nights we stayed in one of the Ouka cabins (Ouka 1 when Chris was in Ouka 2 then, Ouka 2 after our return from the summit!)

We couldn’t have had a nicer time

By Martin, March 2019

We couldn’t have had a nicer time. The transfers all worked perfectly, and the porters appeared like clockwork.

Two days in Marrakech is the perfect dose, and three days at the Kasbah felt right too. We got there for dinner and then did two very different short walks the next day, followed by a much longer one (described as “moderate”) the day after that. We were at a bit of a loose end on the last day – nothing much to do in the morning; we had to leave soon after lunch. And the weather, which had been glorious all week (we were very lucky) suddenly worsened.

The riad accommodation was agreeable; though the rooms are small, there’s plenty of sitting-out space. I thought the situation of the riad, outside the busiest parts of town but in the medina and within easy walking distance of everywhere, was very good. The Kasbah is a magical place. The food was great and the staff without exception delightful, and deeply committed to the project.

Congratulations all round.

Truly, it was a trip beyond my expectations

By Carla, November 2018

To say how much we enjoyed and valued our experience in Riad Siwan (Cees and Marek were beyond helpful and charming) and Kasbah du Toubkal! We even met Gilly there with her friends and connected with other guests in a delightful atmosphere of magical surroundings and treks. Truly, it was a trip beyond my expectations and I thank you for helping to arrange everything!! Also the transport between places worked flawlessly!!

Brilliant on all fronts!

Thank you soooo much!!

We absolutely loved our stay in the Kasbah at Imlil

By Philippa, October 2018

We absolutely loved our stay in The Kasbah at Imlil. The staff, accommodation, setting, food and atmosphere was fabulous. We had 2 days of glorious walking with incredibly informative and entertaining Berber guides who all spoke an impressive number of languages. It was just perfect and we feel so lucky to have experienced such an amazing place. Riad Slitine was lovely and again the staff looked after us really well.

Spend as much time as possible in Imlil and the mountains, it is a real escape.

The ethos of the Kasbah, supporting the local community really made us feel as though we were contributing to the local Berber people's lives. They were all so friendly, polite and happy to have visitors as they are able to gain from it. I'm afraid having lown from UK and driven to Imlil I can't claim an help towards reducing environmental impact!

The Kasbah and the mountains were fantastic and I would go back again. The Riad Slitine was a haven from the hectic medina and very comfortable.

We had a fantastic time

By Nigel, October 2018

We had a fantastic time. Many thanks for your assistance in organising. The Kasbah was a very unique place! I don't really have any suggestions as the trip lived up to expectations. All aspects from transfers to check in ran like clock work. We enjoyed our day walking in the hills around Imlil. Hospitality was spot on. I would highlight the driver who returned us to Marrakech, I'm afraid I've forgotten his name, but he was very engaging, informative and stopped on numerous occasions, so that I could take photos. The Riad was excellent; service was relaxed, but attentive. All in all a great trip!

We had a wonderful trip

By Mathieu, August 2018

We had a wonderful trip and would certainly recommend the trip to other people.

  • • Kasbah du Toubkal in Imlil - Astonishing Kasbah.
  • • Marrakech - Riad Slitine is a marvellous Riad.
  • • Transfers - Excellent!

We are very happy about your services and would travel again with your organization.

We had a delightful trip

We had a delightful trip and our friends who were visiting Morocco for the first time thoroughly enjoyed the contrast of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech in the Medina with the calm and majesty of the scenery at the Kasbah.

The Riad accommodation was perfect. The transfers all went very well. The Kasbah has fortunately not changed since our last visit, still some familiar faces, a true Berber welcome, comfortable and clean accommodation, delicious food, and the ever friendly and smiling service from all the staff.

Although it was busy we always felt that we received individual attention and the four of us enjoyed our stay immensely.

We don’t do so much walking now but we had two 10km walks on the Sunday and Monday, the first accompanied by one of the staff from the Kasbah - he was excellent, the second on our own.

Please pass on our thanks to all concerned both in Marrakech, at the Kasbah and at Discover for a well-organised and well executed holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and all arrangements were smooth.

We had a delightful trip and our friends who were visiting Morocco for the first time thoroughly enjoyed the contrast of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech in the Medina with the calm and majesty of the scenery at the Kasbah.

The Riad accommodation was perfect, the welcome, comfort and cleanliness of the rooms, the drinks on the rooftop terrace to the two delicious evening meals we had on the first and last nights.

Very helpful with arrangements for the transfers, for advice on Marrakech sights and restaurants and for sharing their knowledge of life in Morocco.

The transfers all went very well.

It was just so well organised …

By Amanda, March 2018

We had a really good holiday and very much enjoyed our first experience of Morocco.

We felt that the trip was extremely well organised and the hospitality that we received at both the Kasbah du Toubkal and at the Riad des Yeux Bleus was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble.

This was evident from the start of the holiday as we arrived at Marrakech Airport on Saturday morning to find that British Airways had left our luggage behind in London and it would not be arriving until Saturday evening. A phone call to the Kasbah proved very helpful and our driver (Omar), really did go 'above and beyond' by taking us into Marrakech (where we explored for the afternoon) and then coming back to meet us at the airport later.

For the next few days, we were able to relax, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and felt very cared for in terms of food, welcome and hospitality. There were many 'little things' which made a huge difference - for example, hot water bottles placed in our bed while we were at dinner.

On the Monday, one of the mountain guides, Ali, took us on a gentle stroll around the local villages which was another highlight of the trip. He was friendly, gentle and knowledgeable about the area (and didn't mind our need for a slower pace!)

We were warmly welcomed at the Riad des Yeux Bleus and the team there were great. They were friendly and accommodating.

We would like to thank everyone who made our trip possible, it was just so well organised and we would definitely like to return to Morocco again.

Excellent

By Nigel, May 2019

We had an enjoyable, peaceful, few days in the Atlas mountains staying at the Kasbah du Toubkal. The Kasbah is an experience in itself and provided the perfect base to enjoy the area and do some local walks. We then stayed at a small, comfortable riad in Marrakech close to the Medina but secluded enough to escape the hectic city.

Discover Limited arranged all accommodation and transfers within Morocco dovetailed in with our own flight arrangements. They also provided a very personal service giving us all the necessary information and tips to maximise our enjoyment of this trip. An excellent service throughout.

Lasting memories … of the beautiful Kasbah and High Atlas Mountains

By Joan, August 2017

We would like to thank you for giving us a holiday we will never forget. Kasbah du Toubkal was unforgettable, what a magnificent place, and all the people we had contact with were so lovely, helpful and always happy. We loved our walks in the high Atlas and our guide was always so careful and concerned we were OK. The fact that 5/ goes to girls education is something we very much support, along with helping the village.

All our transfers were on time and great, dropping us as close as possible to our next accommodation.

Our stay in Marrakech.
Our riad was wonderful, so peaceful and beautiful. Unfortunately we didn’t know the feast of Eid was taking place, so most of Marrakech was closed, very few places open.

Maybe we were lucky we didn’t have to contend with large crowds.

Our breakfasts on the roof terrace we loved.

Our lasting memories will always be of the beautiful Kasbah and High Atlas Mountains and all the wonderful people at the Kasbah.

Thank you for all your help and guidance, and thank you to Gilly. We met her husband at the Kasbah. What a dream they had, and it came true.

Thanks for all of your help in creating our Moroccan memories!

Our stay at the Kasbah du Toubkal - What an amazing place! It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So comfortable with every detail considered, but not at all pretentious. We found it rather ironic that a place in the middle of the Atlas Mountains would have one of the best hotel hairdryers we’ve had! The staff was wonderful and the buildings, grounds and views are amazing. The food was delicious - and we enjoyed the pre-meal hand washing tradition with orange blossom water.

  • Our trekking guide, Abdul, (Abdeslam Maachou) was the best!
  • Stay at the Remote Trekking Lodge - this place was also amazing and so comfortable (also great hairdryers!). The location in the middle of such a remote area is such a worthwhile experience. We really enjoyed watching all of the groups of goats coming down from all over the surrounding mountain sides as the sun was going down. Real life so different from our own!
  • Stay in Marrakech - the Riad Siwan was fabulous!!
  • Transfers in and around Marrakech worked like clockwork.
  • Particular recommendations to other travellers - We know a number of people that have travelled to Morocco, but most haven’t gone and spent time in the Atlas Mountains. Staying at both the Kasbah du Toubkal and the remote trekking lodge are really unique experiences that I would recommend to anyone interested in a trip with a bit of adventure. Spending time in the middle of the mountains - where people are living as they have lived for hundreds of years is so different than just going to Marrakech.

We truly loved every minute of our trip to Morocco.

Fantastic experience, lovely country, beautiful people!

By Nicky, October 2019

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? Trekking in the mountains and the Kasbah itself.

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? Check the weather carefully and research clothing and footwear according to how much hiking you're doing.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? Definitely benefited local people from tipping and a percentage goes to the local community.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? Couldn't fault it! Fantastic experience, lovely country, beautiful people!

This holiday was one of the best of my life

By Karen, March 2019

Thank you for following up with me. We returned home yesterday morning and I was planning to write to you today. We had such a lovely time during our trip to Morocco and feel so thankful that we organized our trip through you and the wonderful people at Kasbah du Toubkal. We really cannot say enough good things about our time in your hands!

I will start with our first encounter with your tour, which was with Rashid our driver. He was an excellent guide through all of our transport connections, making us feel very safe and well-organized. We especially valued how much information he shared with us and his patience in answering all of our questions. Similarly, we cannot say enough good things about our trekking guide, Ali. He lead us on two lovely walks and generously shared his knowledge of his home. He is clearly a popular man throughout the valley and we felt quite special to be in his company. Of course, the lunch on our full-day trek was beyond comparison and perhaps the most special picnic I have ever enjoyed. That’s a super touch! All of these kudos and I haven’t gotten to the Kasbah experience itself. The staff were so gracious and kind to us – the facility is truly lovely – and we felt a real sense of peace and relaxation while we were at the Kasbah. I especially appreciated how much attention was paid to our strange dietary needs; the kitchen staff do a wonderful job. Our trip, of course, continued on to Marrakech and Essaouira and we have no complaints about our stays in either of those places. Both Les Yeux Bleus and Madada Mogador are perfectly located and are very nice accommodations. We were very happy to visit both of those cities, but the experience of Kasbah du Toubkal wins out: if I could change one thing about this trip, it would have been to stay longer at the Kasbah.

I highly recommend the full-day trek, a stint in the hammam, and giving oneself ample time at the Kasbah for relaxing. We enjoyed some very nice meals in both Marrakech (Café Arabe) and Essaouira (La Table which is affiliated with Madada Mogador), in both cases following recommendations from the Riad staff.

I guess in closing I will say this holiday was one of the best of my life. I travel a good bit and know that I have rarely experienced such warmth and hospitality as we found through you and the Kasbah staff. My family feels the same way. Of particular value to us is the way in which your venture is giving back to the local communities in the Imlil Valley. We really applaud you for all you are doing. And, we deeply hope we will return to the Kasbah in the future.

Lovely terraces and views

By Jackie, October 2018

  • • Essaouira - Also fab. Lovely room opening onto a terrace with a sea view where breakfast and other meals were served. (Clients chose a Riad upgrade).
  • • Transfers - This all worked smoothly with drivers turning up as expected.
  • • Dar Imlil - Had a fabulous corner room here with two balconies and great views. Lovely terraces and verandas where we could relax, read and sleep after our excursions up the mountain.
  • • Kasbah Du Toubkal - Room a bit dark here, but lovely underfloor heating and hot water bottles in the bed when we came to turn in for the night – a lovely touch. The Kasbah was quite exposed to wind and general weather due to location so we weren’t able to take advantage of the lovely terraces and views so much.
  • • Trekking guide - We had two guides, one for the first day as part of our excursion, and another for the other two days booked independently. Both were great, adapting their pace to suit our level of fitness. They spoke good English and were happy to chat about Berber culture. It was so amazing to have someone cook us lunch on the mountain as part of the first trek. The stay in the High Atlas was the highlight of the trip and the unique part of the trip.
  • • Any other comments - The food in both places in the High Atlas was of a very high standard and lovely to have local fair. Many thanks for all your detailed and patient help.

We had a lovely time in Morocco!

By Inge, August 2018

Our driver was great and it was nice we had the same driver each time. The Kasbah is a real haven. Thoroughly enjoyed it and we organised an extra trek with the same guide and cook - so we were obviously happy. Essaouira: Location of the hotel was great. Staff was friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip and will be back in Morocco at some stage!

The organisation of the holiday was very good

By Ruth, March 2018

We very much enjoyed our holiday especially the stay in the Kasbah du Toubkal as it was so exotic, surrounded by fantastic scenery, with wonderful views and best of all-remote from the hassle of Marrakech!

The Riad dar l'Oussia in Essaouira was also good.

All our transfers went very smoothly and we were impressed by the drivers, especially Rashid. The staff at the Kasbah were all very kind and hospitable, particularly the waiter at dinner.

The meals were all delicious, we were happy with everything we ate.

We thought the three day treks we did up the surrounding valleys to the passes were fantastic! We were very lucky with the sunny warm weather. Especially as it snowed on our last night!

Overall we had a great time and would like to thank you and the staff of the Kasbah for making it so successful.

The organisation of the holiday was very good

By Paul, March 2018

The organisation of the holiday was very good. The travel connections were excellent and well-coordinated locally by the accommodation staff and the taxi drivers. The Riad accommodation at Essaouira was generally good and we had a nice room near the roof terrace. The professionalism of the staff at the Kasbah at Imlil was great.

Our trip to Morocco was incredible

Yoga holidays at Kasbah du Toubkal [View details]

We will be back again

By Amber, March 2019

My name is Amber Ricci and I am a yoga teacher and lead retreats all over the world. We brought our first group to Morocco last month (March 2019) and stayed several days at Kasbah du Toubkal. We highly recommend you come for a stay or have a retreat there. Everything was perfect, the communication between management and myself prior to get set up and know that we had the best package rates for the rooms/ meals/hikes with guide/yoga space, the food was so delicious, the Berber hospitality was evident in every way, we had live music and dancing and that was a special highlights, the beds and showers were very comfortable, the hikes with our guide were just lovely, and the yoga room had all the best mats / straps/ blocks and blankets we would ever need.

We will be back again and miss you all!
